Energy Development Lead

San Francisco, CAFull-timePosted September 3, 2026

About the role

The best software for developers is written with someone who has optioned land, filed an interconnection request, sat through a county hearing, and closed a financing. Basepoint needs that person on the product team.

You will define what good looks like for each workflow in the platform, review what we ship against how the work is really done, and be the domain authority customers trust when they talk to us.

What you will do

  • Own the domain model for siting, interconnection, permitting, and project management workflows.
  • Write the specs, checklists, templates, and scoring criteria that ship inside the product.
  • Review features before release for realism: does this match how a development team actually operates.
  • Join customer calls as the domain expert and translate feedback into concrete product changes.
  • Track policy and market changes (ISO rules, state siting law, incentives) and keep the product current.

What we are looking for

  • Six or more years in utility-scale or distributed energy development, with direct ownership of projects through interconnection and permitting.
  • Fluency across the full development lifecycle: land, grid, entitlements, offtake, and finance.
  • Strong writing. Much of this job is turning tacit knowledge into precise, reusable artifacts.
  • Curiosity about software and comfort working alongside engineers daily.

Nice to have

  • Experience across multiple ISOs or with both solar and storage.
  • Prior work at a data center developer, IPP, or infrastructure fund.
